The farm

In Compiano, on the slopes of the Pelpi mountain stands the Angus farm, 500 hectares of pristine woods and pastures. Here the Pelpi acts as both a great physical and ethno-cultural divider. On one hand it runs alongside the Rivers Taro and Ceno to the Po river and the Vara down to the river Magra, while on the other it separates the lands and peoples of Liguria and Emilia, the sea from the countryside, the merchant from the farmer. A mountainous oasis where pure air, Apennine landscape and tranquillity reign supreme.

The farm's activity is focused on land farming and, more importantly for visitors, it offers all-round hospitality, with typical local foods and wines, and organic products grown on the farm premises.

Angus is an AIAB (Italian Association for Organic Farming) certified organic farm, growing organic products and committed to organic livestock breeding. It is a typical multifunctional farm, whose main vocation is breeding dairy cattle for the production of organic Parmesan cheese.

Other productive areas are:

    *Milk for Parmesan cheese production
    *Grains and alfalfa
    *Forestry management
    *Vegetable gardening
Farmed breeds are:

    * Friesian dairy cows (110 in-milk cows)
    * Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford beef cattle cross-bred with Limousin bulls.
    * Bardi horses
    * Hogs

At the farm restaurant you can also buy our products (organic bread and flour, beef, cured pork products, mushrooms, and cheese).

Therefore, if you wish to learn how to ride on horseback, visit castles and villages, taste and buy typical Valtaro products, walk along the paths of our mountains, you will always find a warm welcome for a weekend or even a full week at the Carovane Farm Restaurant.
